Questions We Often Hear
Here are answers to some common questions about our SIL support services
SIL (Supported Independent Living) is about the support staff and services provided to help you live independently. SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) is about the housing itself - the physical building or modifications. You can have SIL support in any type of accommodation, while SDA refers specifically to specialized housing designed for people with disabilities.
Not always - you can choose individual or shared living arrangements based on your preferences and needs. Some people prefer the social connection of shared living, while others prefer the privacy of individual arrangements. We work with you to find the option that best suits your lifestyle and goals.
Our team can guide you and help assess your needs through a comprehensive consultation. We'll discuss your current living situation, your goals for independence, the level of support you need, and what type of living arrangement would work best for you. There's no obligation, and we're here to help you make the best decision for your situation.
SIL costs are covered through your NDIS plan under the 'Assistance with Daily Life Tasks in a Group or Shared Living Arrangement' budget. The amount allocated depends on your individual needs as assessed by the NDIA. We work with you to ensure your support stays within your allocated budget.
Yes, absolutely. Your needs may change over time, and we're flexible to adapt with you. We can adjust support levels, modify routines, or help you transition between different living arrangements as your confidence and independence grow. Regular reviews ensure your support continues to meet your evolving needs.
